The problem of homelessness in the world is not some unique feature to developing countries.

Here in America we also have homeless children. As a matter of fact, I did my volunteering hours for my teaching associate's at the only school in Dallas where homeless children can go.

Nobody talks about them because everyone thinks America has no homeless people, but we do.

Eh, people who think there aren't homeless or poor children in the US is seriously misguided. This may be a first world country, but it has children who go to bed, every night, without food. There are children in this country who only eat, regularly, when school's in secession.

There are places in the US where poverty levels are outstanding.

Indeed, here in Dallas is also why our district is also very reluctant on closing even while "snowing". I did not know until I was on the teaching program that several kids depend on those meals to go along the day. It was heart-wrenching to realize that several people here in America lack things that I take for granted.

Also, the fact that children go on malnutrition was another thing that I was very shocked to find out. We have enough food to feed the country yet we let these people starve just because they don't have the means and almost nobody is willing to help because they don't know.

The Dallas county is one of the economic hubs of the nation and we have these issues, so for us down here is not only a problem out in the outskirts of the county like Farmer's Branch or Plano but a very metropolitan issue.

I'm still a bit upset about district judges being a political appointment rather than a city appointment.

A judge should not be playing politics, as their job is to uphold the law, not get constituents on their side.

There is a reason why the Founding Fathers did not let Supreme Court justices get appointed by popular vote but rather by direct appointment of the president.

It's because politics should not interfere with how the law is interpreted; that SCOTUS should be an independent body since it is a lifetime office, and so using votes to elect SCOTUS is a terrible idea, same with District Judges and Attorney Generals of the state. I've always seen the Judicial branches as independent entities powerful enough who should not meddle in politics.

Also, she is utterly despised amongst liberal arts majors. She is making a mockery out of our degrees nationwide.

Not that any of the other clowns don't; after all a Doctorate in Jurisprudence is basically the professional Liberal Arts degree, but still.

It's very convenient indeed.

I really wonder how Texas will turn out these Senate elections though; we're beginning to become a battleground state (which means we get to be pestered by both Republicans and Democrats in elections! Yay!) so these senate elections will be an interesting experiment in demographics and how the opinion of the state is changing. After all we have been a Republican state for years.

I certainly hope it ceases to be s battleground state. I am sure there are things that need to be taken care and are being neglected due to senate petty differences. You know, the usual.
