It did work. It's just that it worked prompted by the sword of the conqueror and the blood of the natives. Not the best way to bring a religion to anyone. Not a religion that professes love.

Because I'm pretty sure one of the objectives in the voyages was not "research native methods of hunting and bring samples of weaponry as a souvenir" if I recall correctly from the proposal I got from Pizarro.

Which is why it didn't work out so well. You don't "Christianize" someone by killing the poor guys.

Basically, no religion can be expanded in which we kill the people we are supposed to be "converting".
