Hence the term Celtiberian. As I recall, though, the Iberians weren't all that happy about those undocumented Celts coming over the Pyrenees.

You can learn Portuguese and Spanish at the same time, I guess.

Though learning Spanish and French at the same time would be more practical, and would make learning Portuguese easy like tasting candy.

What I meant was I thought they were basically the same and because of this similarity would be great to learn so that it would be easier to know multiple languages.

The Portuguese spoken in Trás-os-Montes is Galician without the Spanish influence. And it's REALLY different.

I thought Asturian would be more like an in-between of Mirandese and Spanish like Galician is an in-between of Portuguese and Spanish... But no, it sounds very Spanish-like. :P

It's a problem that stems from Francoist times. The language policies of Franco's gov't really messed things up. Unlike Galego and Catalan, Asturian is still fighting for official status. It isn't taught in every school. There's people in Asturias who do not speak it. That's a sad part of the history of my province.

That's a son jarocho? I didn't know. Yes, I think I know now how it may sound. It's just that is not a type of music one associates with Mexico.

And Son Jarocho is from Veracruz. Is the music that my family has been playing since the times of my grandfather from my mom's side, so in a way we're all musicians :p just some better than others.

I will give you one example you will know: La Bamba, popularized by Los Lobos, is and has been a Son Jarocho even before then. We were the ones who came up with that song :lol2:

That's a son jarocho? I didn't know. Yes, I think I know now how it may sound. It's just that is not a type of music one associates with Mexico.

Muy a mi deshonra, when I think of Mexican music, I go straight to Mariachi.

The link I posted on my post shows how it really goes. It's really fast and you can dance it, but the dance is VERY active and you have to be in a hard floor and strike the floor hard with your heel as to make a loud "thud". We follow the pace of the Jarana so we can strike multiple measures per beat.

Here's another example of it, with someone actually striking:
