It does. Gallo sometimes looks at me like I'm strange, when I get into a traditional music mood.

You can learn Portuguese and Spanish at the same time, I guess.
Though learning Spanish and French at the same time would be more practical, and would make learning Portuguese easy like tasting candy.

Compared to you though, our traditional music is not as colorfuleven by Central American or Mexican standards

Although we have had much in the way of Latin music from Mexico, most people recognize Rancheras, Corridos, and Duranguenses from Mexico only. If you talk to them about Sones Jarochos or such other types of music that we have they just look at you as if you have said something alien

I don't know what a Son Jarocho is. And what's this misconception that some have that cumbia is solely a Mexican thing? Cumbia is very much a Colombian thing too!

I know well.
The Portuguese spoken in Trás-os-Montes is Galician without the Spanish influence. And it's REALLY different.
I thought Asturian would be more like an in-between of Mirandese and Spanish like Galician is an in-between of Portuguese and Spanish... But no, it sounds very Spanish-like.
But at least it's still there. Out of Asturias, Leonese didn't have the same luck.

And Son Jarocho is from Veracruz. Is the music that my family has been playing since the times of my grandfather from my mom's side, so in a way we're all musiciansjust some better than others.
I will give you one example you will know: La Bamba, popularized by Los Lobos, is and has been a Son Jarocho even before then. We were the ones who came up with that song![]()

I feel a bit genocidal inside when I read stupid people saying they liked that Franco won the Civil War. And I'm not even Spaniard.

Ok so AFTER I risked my life giving a drug addict a ride, I went to Walmart to get pizza rolls. And after dark there are always a bunch of twenty somethings hanging out in the parking lot. I figured they were hooligans smoking the marywanna and drinking the alkeehawl. One if them waved me down and asked if I had blue turn signals, because the glad over them is blue, I said, no but I do have strobe lights. He completely lost his fucking mind and asked if I would show them. So I turned them on and they started screaming and jumping and flipped their shit. They looked like kids who just got told they were going to Disney world. It was fucking wonderful.

That's a son jarocho? I didn't know. Yes, I think I know now how it may sound. It's just that is not a type of music one associates with Mexico.
Muy a mi deshonra, when I think of Mexican music, I go straight to Mariachi.
