I never understood the hate he garnered. I'll never understand it.

It's mostly because he was perceived like a childish adult with rather conservative ideas.

And the net is mostly festered with radicals. I think I have personally met few centrist in my 10 years of being online.

Not to be cold or rude, but being heavily attatched over someone online is an inconvenience. There are exceptions, though. And I will admit I am a hypocrite for saying such a thing. And I saw the DEAT on Maldo (and several recently gone users) coming.

I'm not trying to be divisive, but I feel like he'd be a little more liked if he weren't a hard right-winger. I don't have a problem with that but NS is largely liberal.

There were other right-wingers in TET, heck, in NSG, who didn't get the amount of crap Maldo did.

Not necessarily an inconvenience.

We are the first generation who has expanded the social engagement online, so our cycle is normal. I bet it was the same when mass communication like the mail became faster or telephony became available.

I got a lot of crap from other radical left-wingers because of my views on certain things. Torc was essentially the one who gave me shit 50% of the time, and she was the loudest at my centered opinions.

The thing is some of us didn't just interact with Maldo only online. Soldi and Gidge met him in person. I speak to him on the phone and plan on meeting him on my next trip to TX. So no, it wasn't an online attachment. This place has seen many RL friendships blossom.
