Both cyclists and drivers need teaching how to act around the other. I'm a perfectly respectable cyclist who only occasionally forgets to indicate because I'm tired or distracted by some thundercunt tailgating me. That said, it is true that a lot of cyclists are also thundercunts.

My main issue is that - as a pedestrian - I'm regularly having to dodge cyclists on the pavement or those who seem to feel that the red light at a pelican crossing isn't meant for them. It's worse in Oxford, when I'm having to commute to my company's home office. The amount of times I've had a cyclist go across the crossing in front of me when I'm trying to cross is phenomenal. They just don't give a fuck, and if they hit me, they'll have probably broken a few of my ribs and at least one limb.

And when they're around vehicles, they seemingly use their vulnerability when compared to cars to bully other road users out of the way.

If there was a more concerted effort to make cyclists obey the rules of the road, then I would have no problem. As it is - and as a non-driver - they are perhaps the most obvious rule-breaker to me.

Part of the problem with cyclists on pavements these days is that in congested stretches of traffic local councils are splitting pavements half and half for cyclists and pedestrians. This has royally confused both cyclists and pedestrians.

But it's also true that some cyclists are a law unto themselves. Personally, I don't know why anyone would be stupid enough to sail through a red light on a busy junction, but then that's their problem...until they get themselves or other people killed or injured. Isn't Oxford a "Cycle City"?

I will say the most frustrating thing as a cyclist are the people who dither about whether or not they have enough room to go past you and end up about half a metre back from you. Either go past or drop back, you're making me nervous and I'm liable to fall off and get driven over, here.

And it's funny you should say that about the railways - the Government is trying to find buyers for the East Coast tail line, which I believe is the only remaining nationalised rail line. It made consecutive losses before the Government bought it, since when it hasn't made a loss at all and made a £209m profit last year.

That's a bloody shame, but then that's what the Tories do. Undoubtedly, they'll find another rich chum, flog it at a massively cut-down price and watch as it gets fucked up.

Then say that this was because it had been publicly-owned for a while, and give the green light for another hike in fare costs.

A profit for everyone, and everything in profit. Unless you're a normal person, then you're fucked.
