It was one of the few cases where I enjoyed the English dub more than the Japanese original.

Yeah, sometimes, we get really lucky and get a dub in our language that's better than in the original (though I always prefer English dubs over subs, because I don't spend most of my time reading the dialogue, thus missing the action, and over the original Japanese, because I don't really see the point in learning Japanese when I'd only use it to understand the original anime dubs, but I digress).

Sometimes the swearing adds more depth to it, or captures the 'feel' of the scene. Sometimes Japanese scriptwriters hold back.

I have met some friends from abroad though who took the time to learn the language just to watch original dub in Japanese. But personally I would not recommend Japanese if all you are interested in is manga or anime. Mandarin or Castillian sound more useful.

Dullness. Boredom. Never knew it would backfire hard.

I wanted to look presentable. Lying was the escape, but that clearly backfired and hurt me internally more than it should, so I lied more to myself.

There, masks were to be used as simple masks, but they morphed into pure lies and deciet in the end.
