You're already ridiculously pretty, Lian. If you had large breasts it just wouldn't be fair on the rest of us.

Forms and techniques are nice, but unless you have the peace of mind to analyze while in a real life situation, or the reaction time needed, your training is in vain. cx In Chinese martial arts we also have a principle called "wei wu wei", or "doing-not doing". This means to practice to the extent that your moves become second nature. If you still have to think before acting, then it is not natural, and you are still too slow. Train harder! Your fighting should be as natural as breathing or walking. Don't think! Just do! cx

I've yet to see a martial art that objectively doesn't work. In most cases, it's the person who just doesn't understand how it works, or how to train properly for self-defense. cx Most people are content with their safety gear, touch-point scoring system and controlled environments. I always tell my students that if they want to be able to use it, they have to start by training in real fighting situations. cx I put students against each other, or have them take on multiple students who just shove them around. It's a learning building process.
First we must build on the basics (power, speed, technique), then we build confidence and functionality by actually testing it in a real fight. Then we can filter out what works and what doesn't. Every person will want to fight with their own style, so this is very important.Forms and techniques are nice, but unless you have the peace of mind to analyze while in a real life situation, or the reaction time needed, your training is in vain. cx In Chinese martial arts we also have a principle called "wei wu wei", or "doing-not doing". Call it what you like, but even though it's supposed to be watered-down jujitsu (ironically, Judo means "The Gentle Way"), it's violent and more than capable of maiming someone. cx Even with falling techniques and matting you still get hurt. Am I right? Gallade wrote:You're already ridiculously pretty, Lian. If you had large breasts it just wouldn't be fair on the rest of us.
Aww, thank you.

I've pretty much gotten use to the smell of human urine after a year and a half in London. Public transit on Saturday mornings, ahhhh the sweet smells of human waste.

Judo is ridiculous. I do not call it self-defense. cx Pull a throw like that onto someone on cement or marble flooring and you'll probably inflict permanent injury or death.Call it what you like, but even though it's supposed to be watered-down jujitsu (ironically, Judo means "The Gentle Way"), it's violent and more than capable of maiming someone. cx Even with falling techniques and matting you still get hurt.
