The issue about the same sex couple is, as I understand it, not that they wanted to buy a cake but that they wanted to buy a wedding cake. I think that it would be one thing if we lived in an environment where gays were not served at restaurants or shops. In this case however a better response than a fine is to blackball the bakery if you agree with the gay couple, and advise "This bakery is prejudiced against gay couples." I think that is very fair. That leaves those who agree with the baker's stance free to agree with him, and those who disagree to disagree. Then he can deal with whether he takes a significant loss in his business or not.

Freedom of speech doesn't apply to corporations. The constitution only guarantees those freedoms from Restrictions put in place by Congress or any other body of the Government.

You know, making that kind of statement about someone with a long NS posting history is always fraught with peril. And yes, he has frequently spoken out, in rather graphic terms, against giving LGBT people equal treatment under the law:

Also, if a place is anti-LGBT, it's our own damn fault for sticking around:

Frankly, New Molsona's posting history re: LGBT issues amounts to a blot of homophobic hysteria, particularly by NS' standards. I'm not saying that he isn't permitted to hold that opinion - in fact, he is, and he's been careful not to cross the lines demarcated by the site's rules - but the attitude remains there, and it's perfectly OK to call it out.

So recently I found myself at the home of one of my coworkers from Walmart. Having enjoyed the girl and her brothers company and finding them decent people, I figured I would open up about the fact that I was in fact bisexual.

Somehow, ive found the coming out of the closet seems to open one up to numerous questions regarding ones sexual behavior including literally being subjected to the question "So wait, would you than have a girl put on a strap on and do you that way?"

Seriously, I really dont know why people associate being queer with the sexual aspect so much and take your admitting your sexuality as some hint that it's ok to be incredibly vulgar

LOL It's just a fact that being a bigot in certain things does still sell, and someone expecting the "market" to compensate against it is deluded. Which is why we regulate things. My friends are the same way. I don't take it too seriously, really. We're all a real vulgar bunch in the first place. Though, that just could be their coping mechanism. Non-heterosexuality is a pretty big mystery to the majority. If I were you, I'd just chuckle and give half-serious answers to any awkward questions they pose.
