Too bad, it's french fries and burgers! (Or possibly hashbrowns and pancakes).
Either way, it's awesome. Kind'a makes me want to step outside, sing the national anthem and salute the flag. In fact, I'd probably do just that if It wasn't fuck-mothering -15'F outside.

Malaysia is a Negara Islam, yeah. Indonesia has Pancasila which is supposed to prevent religious extremism or discrimination.

I personally don't think the west need worry so much about the Sinoese military power as much as they should about their sheer manufacturing power. ^^ Underplaying European and Western manufacturers will do a lot more damage than boats sailing around the South China Sea. The ADIZ issue with Japan may be a special case, but JASDF is more than capable of biting back if pushed too hard. In a recent row with the Philippines over the shooting of a Taiwanese fisherman the ROC actually held military exercises proximity distance to the PH's waters, but that's usually as far as the Chinese go anyway. cx You're right - they're tradesmen, and that's where their power lies. If you look at the PH, majority of their wealthiest tycoons are all Chinese. The malls, the banks, nearly every major industry is held by Chinese interests or invested in by Chinese stakeholders. ^^ That's Chinese hegemony in a nutshell.
While I don't approve of his in-your-face approach to diplomacy, Japan's subsequent opening up to the world did wonders for the country. The steam engines were brought in, the Zaibatsu's rose to power, the Kazoku took the place of the old Samurai aristocracy, and Japanese nationalism rose from the ground. ^^ Kami-worship was also reorganized into Shintoism. My admiration for America stops there, though. Japan got screwed by post-WWI negotiations. And people wonder why they were so eager to cut the west's throat and drive them out of Asia by the 1920's.
