I just find that with all the flaws rote learning entails, it does ensure the required tools for critical thinking.

The world of business, work, science, and arts though.... They are starving for critical thinkers and problem solvers.

Troubleshooting is valuable these days, so of course they are starving.

Businesses don't care as much whether you have a degree on Rocket Science or not for the most part; they want to know if you're the kind of person that gets it.
