Why not just give major projects and do away with the test except for one or two; instead of mortifying over every. little. concept.
Rote doesn't work, that's how we're being taught here in the US.
That is what should be mandated. The small quizes are just to make sure basics are held down pat. Rote works, it's just that the way it is done in the States seems to not work. Rote is to only be limited to basics.
Projects is to see how far the student can take such basic knowledge. And weighted marking is key. Knowledge is important, but ability to expand on such knowledge is valued greater.





so I guess I am talking about my specific major. But I am not sure about engineering or other tech fields. I do know they make you do projects, a lot.
