And yet people call governments criminals for shutting down sites like The Pirate Bay.

If you're not going to pay for it, you simply don't get to use it. You wouldn't go into a store, claim a 72" screen television to be open-source and leave with it without expecting consequences.

They count every pirated copy as a lost sale, but that is not the case.
It is not lost sale if the person did not intend to buy it in the first place.

Statistically speaking, more sales occur due to pirating and no company has ever went under due to it.
Pirating has done nothing but help the economy, but these businesses still attack it.

They attack it because they know it will make it stronger, as it always has.
The more the corporations try to stop us from doing something, the more we do it.

Breaking Bad is a good example. The director thanks pirating for getting the show so popular.

And to add to your statement, I can't make a copy of that tv. I can make a copy of a .mp4 or any other media type.
Stealing is taking something from someone, not making a copy of it.

But do your research before claiming that pirating is bad. It has only helped businesses so far.

that is not quite correct either, (though you are right about the lost sales calculation). if the owner themselves release the material for free, your right it is essentuially arketing.

but its the owners choice what to do with the material, not the theifs.
