I usually stay clear of gender topics. Mainly because honestly, I don't know what is and what isn't acceptable any more. It's a minefield of grey-area discussion of gender and sex that I won't really benefit from participating in.

I used it, but then I got nostalgia, and switched back to default. Dark is still good though.

There's a pretty simple rule of thumb that has not failed me. If your demonym has an "-ed" on the end, it's probably outdated and should be avoided. This is Diversity 101, hon'.
