This song exemplifies the frustration I feel as a college student. Both the feeling that I'm being robbed by capitalism, and the feeling that I'm so desperate for cash that I might rob someone.

I dislike making political interpretations from songs.

Emotional and philosophical interpretations? Sure. And funny enough I feel the same way, except in my interpretation it's alluding to corruption of the businesses and governments.

But if you can't bend a song to support a political agenda, what's the point?

Nah, you got a point there. It's just that Paper Planes evokes certain ideas and thoughts of my. Not that I would superimpose those beliefs on M.I.A. She's probably got different worries than I do, and pretty much definitely wrote the song for different reasons than to complain about my college debt.
