How's your Latin progressing? I seem to remember you being quite fluent. Has your Uni course been a sufficient challenge?

It has. We're on Caesar and Ovid right now, so we're seeing it in the wild en masse for the first time, really. I'm excited for next semester (and then in the fall I get to take conversational Latin, which is really really exciting), too, because on top of Latin 204 (which focuses on Vergil) I'm also taking a course on language change and I'm starting Spanish.

I don't know about that. I have been known to use "omg" a lot.Astrolinium wrote:

Whooo! o/ I'll always endorse Spanish and a modern language choice.
I think it's admirable that you've found such fulfillment in Latin. (:

I wanted to take Italian but my advisor said I wasn't allowed to (she was joking, of course -- I could have taken it if I really wanted to) until I'd finished Latin because that would just be an exercise in confusing myself.
Thank you. I'm excited to start Ancient Greek next year, too. Of course, then I'll be doing three languages at once -- maybe four if I can get into American Sign Language.

You're just jealous that I took the warm weather with me back to Colorado when I left San Antonio!
... And you get to do PT in the cold today!

What about you, what are you up to on that front?
I'll have to send you a telegram about it, if you would like to hear about it. Similar to your story, it's not something I can discuss out in public.

I've purposely avoided studying Italian and Spanish so as to not get confused with Latin.Astrolinium wrote:The Truth and Light wrote:I don't know about that. I have been known to use "omg" a lot.

I figure Spanish, being supposedly a simpler language, won't interfere as much, and I'm simply not going to turn down the opportunity to learn lots and lots of languages now that I suddenly have the ability to take more than one.
