In the Armed Republic Of Libertarian Paumanok every Individual, when he or she is born, does not receive a birth Certificate. In our society citizenship conferred without any Contract is considered to be a terrible remnant of statism. In our culture when a potential Self Owner has reached the age of reason (18 years old for boys, 16 years old for girls) they can choose to declare their Independence. Once they have declared their independence, they must take a blood oath in which they swear to live according to the Nonagression Principle. The individual then receives a property title to his or her own life, known as as a Title Of Self Ownership. Then comes the fun part: a Self Owner then recieves a tattoo of a porcupine on the palm of their dominant hand. This tattoo is called The Mark Of The Free, and it's purpose is to signify to others that the individual who bears the mark is a Self Owner and is sovereign. The individual is not done yet! After receiving The Mark Of The Free, the individual may choose their 3 weapons. The choices are generally one rifle, one handgun, and one blade. Most Self Owners choose some type of knife or dagger as their blade, however tomahawks, machetes, and even swords are not uncommon choices. A Self Owner may also opt to choose a crossbow instead of a rifle, or a second blade instead of a handgun. A very small percentage of Self Owners opt out of weapons entirely, and choose to go unarmed. Going unarmed however, is frowned upon, as carrying a weapon is a symbol of liberty, strength, citizenship, individual sovereignty, and self ownership.
