Managed to reach my relatives who just yesterday took the brunt of Haiyan. They're good, so I'm good.

Yes on both counts. Tacloban, for example, is now in a virtual state of anarchy. Looters and stuff.

Manila. I hail from Cebu, though.

Easier said than done; last I heard, Tacloban is still cut off or something.

Depends on which part of the affected provinces you're in; the parts with my relatives are good, holding on. My Cebu-based relatives have a mess on their hands, though.

It seems like it, though admittedly, I've only ever been to one other country; China, which most countries are better than anyway.

Eh. I've never been to Australia, but I still know much about it. And about most other countries, which lets me have favorites.

By that you mean Kotirian or a RL language you're learning?

My favorites would have to be Switzerland, Liecthenstein, Scandinavia, Australia and Luxembourg, with New Zealand, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany coming close behind. And then South Korea, Japan, Botswana (mainly for being African, yet not being north African, South Africa, or a hellhole), Singapore and Canada somewhere in front of the rest of the pack.

I learn German every day. Don't want anything to do with it anymore. Especially on a Saturday.
I had to miss an entire year of school because I moved to Germany without knowing the language. :/

US, China?

Um... maybe politically. But the U.S. is a beautiful country, and China is also incredibly beautiful.
I took both politics (hence U.S. being ahead of China) and culture/awesomeness into account. And climate, or else half of those would be northern countries.

Oh so you're living in Germany now? How's that going for you? :)

English is the only Western language I can speak. I can work my way with a number of the Asian ones though!

China has a great (if a bit dirty and rude in places) culture and nice environment where it hasn't bee despoiled (which is most places), but its politics are pretty much shit.
