Last year can, in other words, be summarised as 'War, TheMusicalLesson'. We did Crimea, 2nd Boer, WWI, 'Great Patriotic' (WWII), Korea and Vietnam.
What with it being a Modern History A Level.

Here (on NS) or in the UK? Coz anyone with half a brain and some political sense hates them, pretty sure that applies to both places.Kouralia wrote:I have 'The USA from 1917-1951, 'Boom', Bust and Recovery', and 'How did Individuals Affect Relationships Between The Great Powers in The Period 1871-1991?' Starting GCSE history, we've done bridging units on conspiracy theories (coz fuck common sense) and the suffragettes so far. Should be heading into History of Medicine, the American West and a local history topic on some nearby castle for our actual GCSE. None of which I'm particularly enthusiastic about, though the American West sounds alright, but it could be worse.

WAT
Are you in the US or the UK?
We were split into groups and each given an event to research. Then, we were presented with multiple theories and evidence for each one. The problem? They decided to weigh each theory equally in terms of the evidence we were told about. This meant that batshit crazy theories, like the royal family taking out Diana, looked like they were just as feasible as the obvious, like the almost definite fact that her death was an accident. Out of 9/11, JFK, Marylin Monroe, Princes Diana, the Princes in the Tower and Jack the Ripper, I ended up with one of the only two actual mysteries - JtR, PitT being the other mystery.New Bierstaat wrote:Midwest > West

Guess that's the other option.
"Who gives a shit how important or interesting it is, let's do it!" or "WW2 is interesting and important, so we'll teach you about it until it's no longer interesting and what you're learning is no longer important."

Oh no, we've done about World War One as well. They just managed to link it to Hitler and how much of a bastard he was every two seconds.
On the bright side, I suppose Kam can't claim that the British system has indoctrinated me against Communism

Oh, we had a single lesson on the Cold War with a cover a little while back. Tried to teach us that Communism was a one-party totalitarian dictatorial system. Wasn't having any of it, especially not from a cover. Not sure she was expecting backchat from a cocky Glaswegian Socialist telling her the whole lesson was built on bullshit.

In five years at my school, the first time they mentioned Communism was when we learnt about the Spartacist revolt in the Weimar Republic last week. And guess what ?? They still linked it to Hitler. It's part of the reason I'm not taking History at A Level; I'll learn more researching it myself, and French will be more useful to my future career.

You managed to do five years of Nazi Germany orientated history without mentioning the Soviet Union's (supposed) politics?
Nonetheless, if you're going to a sixth form college (as opposed to a secondary sixth-form) they usually have more specific history courses from ancient history to 21st century to pick from. Fair enough if you think French will be more useful though - What do you plan on doing?

We did a lesson on the Treaty of Versailles where the Bolshevik Revolution was mentioned, but besides that, it's been mostly Nazis and slavery.
I'm looking to become a sports journalist; a lot of the Russell Group unis want a French A Level to get onto an English degree, so it'll help, yeah.

So a peace of friendly advice to him. The company IS SUSPENDED and no attempt on your side will fix that. The action is taken full under my occupation of minister of finance and due to your mistakes. It is not our job to tell you how you may end punished it is your job to do that. As such the decision stands. And you have no power in this RP to decide who godmod and who does not. Also you can not decide what is canon and what is not drago. That rests solely in the hands of the admins that have confirmed my action as legitimate.
