But seriously, I would categorize expansion into the West as a necessary evil in the development of the American superpower as we know it today.

The world doesn't need an American superpower.

It doesn't necessarily need a superpower of any kind.

That's not going to last much longer if it continues on the road to federalism. The Anti-EU movement is a growing one and most of the actions the European commission take only fuel the fire. Trouble is they are to busy with their heads up each others arse's to see their actions are what is fueling the Anti-EU movement.

EDIT: There will be some kind of split, the UK, Scandinavia, Holland, Finland and others if the current trends continue.

The EU is weakening, and anti-European beliefs are only growing.

As more politicians want more EU control, more people want less EU control.

This will be clear in the European elections, where the eurosceptic movement will gain lots of votes.

Also: EU sucks and Germany has finally fulfilled its dream of conquering Europe, except now it's financially rather than militarily.

The commission is not elected, but they act like they have a mandate from the people. They are like a form of monarchy really in a sense. The difference between the Queen and the EU commission is that the Queen realises that her survival and that of the monarchy rests on not using her still considerable powers unless there is no other option. The commission don't, hence we can see why one institution is almost universally loved in the UK and by many people around the world and the commission is hated by many across Europe.

Hence the scots want to keep the Queen as head of state mostly and the UK want's rid of the EU in general. The current model is politically broken.

Oh, well I wasn't including Great Britain. In the context of European Union discussions, when I say "Europe," I usually mean the continent. And even then I'd exclude Switzerland. The UK appears to still have quite the independent streak, in regards to being "European," and I'm glad of that. But as for Greece, Italy, Spain? Yeah.

Say "Goodbye, Liver!"

I made sure it didn't have the chemical that kills you/destroys your liver in hours in it. The only active ingredient was dextromethorphan (the one that gets you high).

And besides, with the way I drink, my liver knows that its will be a life of continual punishment.

That's for a variety of reasons. One the differing effects of proportional and first past the post, two that the three main parties seem to enjoy the power of Europe so people from both left and right have no option but to vote UKIP if they want a serious anti-EU voice in Strasbourg. When it come to general elections though most people don't see the connect that it would in fact be the PM who could pull us out. If the poll ratings of those who want out off the EU transcended party politics in a general election and they all voted for UKIP they would win a landslide and we could be out just a few months later. You see at a national level there is still a lot of Labour, Tory tribalism. Though with members of both parties defecting to UKIP 2015 is going to be interesting and could be a break through year on a national level.

They have done on a EU and local level already but 2015 could be the year, vote share as much as anything.

Would you like it if Boris Johnson defected to UKIP ahead of the election? Or would you prefer him to remain with the Tories so he can replace Cameron as PM?
