Probably more to do with your specific school. I was taught a bit about the history of the Jews in Europe. For example I believe Edward II kicked the Jew out of England and wales and under William I Jews were only allowed to be money lenders as that was considered a job dirty job you might say.

In both RE and History, only the latter of which I still take, we barely touched on historic prejudices or socio-economic situation. I think in History they briefly mentioned inflation during the Weimar Republic, demonstrated by some stupid activity where we compared food prices at various points in British and German history. Only keystage three, but still.

From then we opened up to trade with many Islamic nations and I don't see why we'd continue anything more than prejudice against Jewish populations - They'd likely do quite well due to other religious restrictions on handling money.

Because at the time the Jew were seen as dirt and second class. Like at anytime in history there has been no sane reason to hate the Jews yet it has happened and they have been continually treated as second class citizens. I would call not following what happened in the rest of the continent (let's not forget the countries we are linked with all did it) historical revisionism. Hatred or prejudiced does not make sense from an outsider from a different time but why would the Jews in Aurentina be treated any different by the occupying forces than they were treated in their home countries?

You can't just make our history a sweet bed of Roses, to be a proper history there needs to be event's that have happened that we should be ashamed of happening in our country. This along with the rest of Europe is one of them.

Last year I had 'The (British) Experience of Warfare, 1854-1919', 'Stalin's Russia, 1924-1953' and 'Ideology, Conflict and Retreat: The USA in Asia, 1950-1980'. Last year can, in other words, be summarised as 'War, The Musical Lesson'. We did Crimea, 2nd Boer, WWI, 'Great Patriotic' (WWII), Korea and Vietnam.
