And in terms of costs, it is a train wreck.

Hmm... No... A bus costs around 200.000 euros and has a capacity of lets say around 50 people. Seated and standing.
A normal car lets say an opel costs around 14.000 euros and can sit at best 5 people but normally 1 or 2 people occupy it.
So in order to get the 30 people the costs would be 210.000. Add to that the fuel costs, congestion of traffic and what not.

What are the terms and conditions? And the specs? That's either a device with really cheap hardware, or you have to sign a slave contract with the service provider. Either way, you get so much more with Chrome OS. Just stahp Ainin.

I'll have to counter that offer then.

But anyway, can you answer my questions? Is the hardware overly cheap, or do customers have to enslave themselves to get that price?

Running Windows on any non-big.LITTLE ARM processor is a bad idea. But still, what about the contract? What type of contract do customers have to sign when they purchase this device for the price specified?

No, not really. Every single device I've used has been extremely responsive. I've encountered no lag.

Belmaria wrote: But still, what about the contract? What type of contract do customers have to sign when they purchase this device for the price specified?

Not a particularly harsh one, probably. Small monthly payments for 4G connectivity and that's about it.

It's literally the equivalent of taking a Windows machine and removing everything but Chrome. It has no added functionality. You're paying for a computer that's essentially a browser.

T-Mobile has an agreement with Google to offer free data to 3G/4G Chromebooks for two years after purchase. Also, all Chromebooks come with 100 GB of free Google Drive space for 2 years (except for the Pixel which has a TB of space for three years), 12 free GoGo wifi passes, and a free trial of Google Play Music. So I should probably add that as well.

With browser apps. Look up Murder Files and Cracking Sands. They are both independent applications that run on Chrome OS. They run in their own window and they aren't web-based.

In what world is the ARM processor "sub-par", It's an emerging technology that has the potential to beat x86 to death.

ARM processors are inherently weak unless the big.LITTLE architecture is used. I never said they were "sub-par" though...

That's T-Mobile USA, and as far as I'm aware of, T-Mobile has no service in Aurentina.

You're paying for the hardware, actually. The OS is free. And to say that an app is bad because it's a "Chrome App" is like saying that Windows or Android apps are inherently bad too. Like I said before (maybe you didn't hear me) they are NOT browser-based. They run independently on the system as a separate application. They do NOT rely on an internet connection to function. They are NOT browser-based apps. And there are several apps like that.
