Literally bust as in literally head, shoulders and upper chest your ass or literally bust as in literally smash your ass to pieces?
I fail to see how either really has much value in politeness.

They do.
It's only a problem when such people decide to ask or bug people from Japan or any East Asian country due to a false perception.
I don't think cultural fetishization is good. However, that practice which I frankly don't understand, sells. Even in Japan you see it. And when false perceptions are presented, all you can do is try to set the record straight. But if people don't listen, is there anything you can do? Surely you prefer not to cry "raeg". Takes too much work.

Literally bust as in expose as the fraud that he is.
My ass has been a liar for years. It's about time to bust him out.

It sells because people still think it's cool. Hell I'm guilty with it for South Korean stuff.
Well in Japan itself it would be filed under satire or something. Don't take it from me though, I wouldn't know.
Well to be completely fair, what you say is true. But then again, it's unfortunate to see regular people indirectly harmed or stigmatized as a result. So it's a cause worth fighting for, just the means are inefficient and very counterproductive at times.

All you can do is set the record straight, and move on. As a westerner, I realize Japan and its culture aren't portrayed fairly by anime. If I want to find out how things are there, I do research. I don't take anime as a reputable source.
