Seito, most anime fans don't really care about the culture behind anime. They just care about the shows. Lighten up. If you really care about cultural correctness, instead of calling them weeabos, help them learn. Those who wish to learn. And the ones who don't, ignore them. They're not going to change and I don't think they're harming you in any way. Unless you're choosing to feel slighted, which is your own thing, not their fault.
Otaku and these people you describe, I don't take seriously.
You misunderstand, Nana. The core part you are missing is the willfull ignorance and utter refusal to learn the facts.
And I ain't butthurt, to be fair I have other things to do, but seeing harrassment just because they are transfer students first hand as a member of student gov't bugs me to no end.
Yeah that bit messed me up, retcon that bit because I don't even understand it.

I never said you were butthurt, sweetie. And I were to take offense for every time some around here says Spain is all about bull fights, wine and flamenco dancers, I'd be pissed all the time. All you can do is try to educate, and if some choose to remain ignorant, there's nothing you can do.
Otaku culture and weeabos do something positive for Japan. They buy the manga, the anime and every other thing associated with it. I'm sure Japan likes their money.

You're fine. Don't sweat it.
The two of us seem to have an issue with semantics, though.

Cultural fetishization is a result of ignorance and small media perception.
They do.
It's only a problem when such people decide to ask or bug people from Japan or any East Asian country due to a false perception.
