I don't take it lightly either. Weeaboo's are creepy racists.

And you were absolutely not rude. I think that it was actually proper for you to state that it seemed weeaboo-ish to you. It helps everyone out in the long run.

Did I also mention how much effort one must actually put for Hapanese honorifics? It still bedazzles me to this day. Japanese naming style is fine in Englush, it's usually the hinorific part that either a) is wrong or b) pretentious to even say in English.

Otakus can be weeaboos, but weeaboos are never Otakus. Not to mention ignorant and shallow buttfaces.

Ah. True true.

Right, and it's good that was pointed out. Saying Hamasak-sensei like that is contextually inappropriate outside of a Japanese-language setting.

That middle paragraph is logically incoherent, though. X can equal Y, but Y can never equal X? Yeah no.

That's possible. With standard manners becoming less common, perhaps the polite comes off as fancy. I wouldn't notice, living in the South where everything is uber polite.

Seito, most anime fans don't really care about the culture behind anime. They just care about the shows. Lighten up. If you really care about cultural correctness, instead of calling them weeabos, help them learn. Those who wish to learn. And the ones who don't, ignore them. They're not going to change and I don't think they're harming you in any way. Unless you're choosing to feel slighted, which is your own thing, not their fault.

There is a relevant point to be made about cultural fetishization, yes.

To extend on that, to make assumptions from a relatively niche media is foolish as well.

Yes. Anime and manga are niche medias.

You misunderstand, Nana. The core part you are missing is the willfull ignorance and utter refusal to learn the facts.

And I ain't butthurt, to be fair I have other things to do, but seeing harrassment just because they are transfer students first hand as a member of student gov't bugs me to no end.
