Are senators allowed to occupy two seats at once?

There are some with only one candidate and some where the same person is running for multiple positions, how is that "enough" people to vote?

This is true, now that I look deeper. I cannot be shadow minister of Health and Telecoms at the same time...

I object to voting occurring now, I want to wait another 24-48 hours at least.

We need to try to hurry this along though. We don't have a lot of time left in the prime minister's term of office.

Would it be out of line to put myself in for running as Minister of Health?

It would mean finally getting some competition in that area, so I wouldn't object to it!

My Current Agenda for the Ministry of Justice shall be the following...

  • Introduction of a Bill to enable court cases to be available to the public via cameras (excluding cases where national security may be affected)
  • Introduction of a Bill to provide contracts for the management of Prisons to Private Business and a new arms-length business set up by the Ministry of Justice
  • A new focus on Rehabilitation in our Prisons with partnership with businesses to provide qualifications and skills to prisoners
  • Introduction of a Bill to charge Prisoners for any damage they cause to Prison property
  • Consultation on the case for Super-Prisons in effort to lower costs
  • Appointment of a NBI Director

More may be added to this, however due to limited funding of the Ministry of Justice I have had to look at other methods of managing our prisons. However I wish to note that I shall be actively engaging in talks with the Shadow Minister of Justice and any Senator who wishes to discuss the MoJ's plan for reforming our Justice System to make this an Aurentina for All.

Trying to privatize the prisons somewhat, eh?

I am a bit iffy on the first bill you propose, unless there is an amendment for minor lawsuits to be able to be withheld from the public by the defendant individual with consent from the jury.

Just an opinion.

I will definitely take the opinions of the Honourable Senator on-board when the Ministry drafts the legislation, we aim to provide transparency to the Courts beyond current means however it remains important to the Ministry that only in the most serious of circumstances should a case not be made public in such a manner such as high media interest, damage to national security and any other situation in which a Judge finds appropriate.

We additionally point out that there have been no Juries in Aurentina due to our current legal system, there are currently no plans to change this.

I am against it due to the simple fact that a normal inheritance trial can be turned in a mockery where the nation can see members of the family arguing against each other on who to gain something.

To be honest, i would prefer a centrist or a conservative as shadow minister of health. Do we desire to present the position of hostility towards the overwhelmingly supported universal healthcare system currently in place. With great respect to our libertarian friends, im wary of being alienated on so vital an issue to the public consciousness.

Of course, im quite willing to listen to arguements in favor of a libertarian holding that position.

I merely acknowledge hesitation in that regard.

Id prefer a greater emphasis on deterrence rather than rehabilitation but otherwise, thats a solid platform.

What are you against?

If regarding the transparency of the courts, if something is in the interest of the public it should be able to be viewed unless there is good reason. You make it seem like every single case will be watched by every citizen, which I can assure you will not be the case.

Additional methods would certainly be considered by the Ministry once we have got the main bulk of our core agenda completed, deterrence is something I believe is important and I will be completely open to any suggestions from Senators.

It is simple senator. There are divorces, children custody cases and the lot that can be viewed. Those people deserve their privacy. That has notting to do with transprency.

Since I'm running for Shadow Minister of Justice, I should ask you two things:

1) What's your stance on "trial by jury vs. panel of judges"
2) What's your stance on mandatory minimum sentencing
