Aye. I was implying that would put the WP into 2nd, behind Android's market.

I just hope they will continue to do it in Finland.

There's no reason to waste a lot of money either moving all the employees and offices (all 30k of them) or firing them (in which case, why not just buy the patents and brands?)

The thing is, even those jobs staying here had more to do with Nokia's image than anything else. Which Microsoft doesn't need to think about. And we aren't exactly a cheap country to do business in.

I do not see what's so unfortunate about it, since it stopped Apple from becoming the only relevant player in the smartphone scene.

Quite odd, especially when you consider how the red light means exactly the opposite.

Nokia still exists separately from Microsoft, only the phone division was sold.

Now it's more of a mapping/research/networking company. They're still worth billions. I wouldn't be surprised if they started their own brand of phones (Android? new OS?) later on too.

Yeah. What's funny is that this isn't the first time stuff like this has happened either (altought the scale is unprecedented, obviously), Nokia used to make everything from sheets to rubber boots and tires.

All of the large Japanese/Korean tech manufacturers used to do produce random products before they went into tech, too.
