We don't. We did a long time ago. His heir, which would be called the Prince of the Aurentines, would be the current heir to the throne, despite he has nothing to do in the government. He's not even head of state, he just holds the title Prince of the Aurentines.

Actually, he holds the title Graf von Tyrannien (Count of Tyrannien), and his family have served as Governors and Governors-General of Aurentina for the British Crown for countless generations. :p

My character is a direct descendant of the last native Aurentine royal house, according to Glasgia's official history of Aurentina. Unless there is another line that is more senior, and as yet non-canonical, I'm the heir to the Aurentine Throne- and I'm Queen Elizabeth's man.

Lord President, please accept my deepest apologies. Something awful has happened in real life and I'm going to be absent for the next couple of weeks. I'm incredibly sorry for this inconvenience but, all things considered, I think it would be preferable that we appoint Celritannia as our Party Chairman instead. I could never have predicted this but I suppose life is always full of unfortunate surprises. All of that said, I would still be willing to serve as Deputy Chairman as, despite a couple of low activity, I will still be around and I will return to my usual level of high activity after this. However, the ultimate choice is that of the Chairman.

Dearest Cavalier brothers-in-arms, I hope you can forgive me for this decision but I must be honest with myself and you. It would not be right for me to accept the position of Party Chairman and Prime Minister of our great nation when I know that I won't be able to properly carry out my duties until a whole two weeks or so into the term and so, it is with this in mind that I have decided to pull an Edward VIII. After all the debates and a leadership race in which I was unopposed, I realise this is very inconvenient, but I could not have predicted the things that have come up and hope you understand. Finally, should Lord President Old Tyrannia agree with me on this, I hope you will all join me in congratulating Chairman Celritannia on his new position. Despite him and I not seeing eye-to-eye on all political issues, I know from my interactions with him thus far that he is an honourable man of noble character who will do just as good if not even better than I would have.

Long live Lord President Old Tyrannia!
Long live Chairman Celritannia!

Despite wishing to accept the proposal of Senator Irredento, I wish to see the Lord President becoming PM. However, I would gladly accept the position as Chairman, with Irredento as DC. I would also fill any position in government that still needs someone to hold a cabinet post.

This is fine by me, although I do believe you have what it takes to be Prime Minister.

However, if you aren't up to it, this is completely understandable, especially since I feel a similar way about myself, due to the fact that I won't be around much as of tomorrow.

I believe Lord President Old Tyrannia would make an excellent Prime Minister and so I hope he is willing to take the position.

Lord President,

I am saddened to hear of your chairman's resigning. He would have made a great prime minister, and now you've gone through a couple of chairmen more quickly than I'm sure you'd like.

I see a couple of names have been floated around here as possible successors to the Chairman. While these are both fine suggestions, I'd like to add my own to the mix.

I give for your consideration Senator Dhimitri Lazaros Pelle. Senator Pelle was an outstanding member of my cabinet throughout last term and has continuously displayed the ability to work with people with whom he disagrees, something any good prime minister needs. He also holds other attributes that made Tittoli de Medici a great prime minister. He is respectful of all, even those with whom he disagrees, and debates in a constructive, not condescending, style, like any good PM should. His consistent, reliable activity rounds out the list of attributes that would make the former Minister a strong candidate for the job. He has also expressed the desire to hold a job with more significance in the government. This would be his chance. I don't see too many on the Left opposing his confirmation, either.

No matter who you pick, I will gladly nominate him and get our new goverent started.

I think it appropriate to deal with this situation as rapidly as possible, lest faith in our government be damaged.

It is deeply unfortunate that Senator Irredento will be unable to serve as Chairman of the Party and Prime Minister of the Commonwealth. However, I accept his resignation in the knowledge that he will no doubt have thought deeply about it and made the decision he considered most responsible. In accordance with protocol, Celritannia will now become Chairman of the Party, and as per his request, Irredento will be appointed Deputy Chairman barring any objection. If the new Chairman is unwilling to become Prime Minister, in light of the clear support for this option in the Party, I would be willing to step forward.

However, this leaves a spot on the Cabinet open for a CMP member; the President suggests Dangelia for the Premiership, and while I think he'd make a fine Premier, I must confess that it would be unorthodox for me to appoint a member of the Party without a place within our official hierarchy as Prime Ministerial candidate based purely on the President's proposal. But Dangelia is an active and capable Party member, so I think he fully deserves the chance to shine. As such, I'd like to offer him the position of Minister of the Environment in the new government, if he'd be willing to take it.

I hope this is an acceptable settlement, and I certainly don't want to be seen as taking power for myself at the expense of anyone else in the Party. Above all else, I am keen to ensure that everyone is content with the settlement and no one feels hard done by in any way.

I am entirely content of this set up. I also believe that the duties of the Chairman and duties of a PM/Minister would not work too well. With such high responsibilities ensuring party control and ministerial duties, I believe it is too much for one person.

I am grateful for President Tom Schmidt's and our dear Lord President's words and offers. However, I must state that I will be to busy to assume ministerial duties. As many of you know, I am to be wed to Rose Costa. As such, I am preoccupied in getting the wedding ready and there will of course be the honeymoon afterwards (OOC: My school has midterms. I gotta study). I will still be able to do my senatorial duties and continue to stand up for the monarchist cause, but I am afraid I must decline your offer. My apologies.

Sir, you are still banned from this thread, and the Senator in question has already indicated his decision to decline the appointment.

He has not stated anything publicly of the sort since the time he was nominated. such a public declaration is officially needed either way by the individual nominated.

If it is your wish never to be contacted about official senate business then so be it. But don't blame me if it has negative consequences for your party in the future.
