I believe that the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates, along with people who are chosen by their parties for Cabinet, will be given positions on the shadow cabinet. Not certain though.

We still have 18 people in this party who haven't voted. It's probably too late but if people actually listened to the bloody whip. It's quite frustrating.

I guess it's got to be a long term thing. If we kept people engaged, and not bored, maybe we'd have a bigger % voting in elections.

Soon the Party and the Coalition will enter into a new chapter of existence. The most loyal opposition to the fifth Presidency of the Aurentine Commonwealth. I might as well share this with the rest of you, since I've been keeping track of it throughout the election. In the end, 17 Red-Greens voted for MV, none voted for anyone else, and 18 didn't vote, so there was a turnout of 48.6%. I haven't double checked it so sorry if there's a mistake, but it should be okay.

So due to exams approaching rather quickly, I'm looking for someone who will be my proxy for the next few weeks as the new government begins to implement its legislative agenda.

There is important business in the Progress Coalition thread. Please go over and act accordingly both there and in your own party.

Maklohi Vai wrote:Alright, we need to get going on the shadow cabinet assignments. I want all parties to have a list of their top 5 choices in by 48 hours from now, no exceptions. You also need to have candidates ready by the end of Distruzio's confirmation vote on the 27th. Furthermore, inactive shadow cabinet members will not be replaced along party lines, with the sole exception that each party will have representation within the shadow cabinet. We cannot afford to have an inactive opposition. Lastly, we need to choose our Leader of the Opposition, the candidates being Glasgia and Malgrave. Your 48 hour (and 6 minute) vote starts now.

I disagree. I think we should oppose Distruzio's confimation. But if his confirmation fails, then the President would have to appoint someone, and we could have influence on who that is and who he or she appoints. If we're lucky someone form our coalition will be appointed. But if we rule out voting for anyone we loose all influence.

As an NDP member, I will also be opposing it, too many members are willing to just support Distruzio, a libertarian monarchist. It would be like us asking them to vote for a communist.

My pick is first and I take the Shadow Ministry of Energy

Actually, I'll fourth the motion. It's important to oppose Distruzio and we could always change our minds later.

Could any one tell me what the proper procedure for questioning the impartiality of a presiding officer is? I don't think that Nihl is being fair in only listing the speeches of four people that are for this confirmation in the OP of the voting thread.
