Budget discussion:

Wolf, you don't get to do whatever you want with the nation's money until the Senate says otherwise. The money is not used until the Senate decides to spend it.

Do we seriously have to run a defecit? We are spending 110,000,000,000 pounds on healthcare alone, surely there is room to cut

Yes, In Veterans Affairs for near enough non-existant veterans.

Is there anywhere that says the Senate must approve? If we're going with a US style system we're never going to have a budget

Its better to start saving money for them now. Their pensions and benefits will be huge, and we can use the veterans fund like the SS fund in the USA: If any other major projects come up in other departments and we are running a surplus or our expenses arnt great we can transfer funds out of it.

Besides, dont our few veterans deserve some respect?

For your convenience:

TOTAL INCOME: £365,348,883,819
TOTAL SPEND: £627,442,350,503 (170.8% of income)

£201,221,789,120 (Work) 32.3%
£117,208,403,094 (Health) 18.8%
£98,927,717,842 (Education) 27.1%
£35,982,987,974 (Infrastructure) 5.7%
£32,345,678,321 (Justice) 5.2%
£28,786,212,672 (Energy) 4.6%
£27,567,232,312 (Infrastructure) 4.4%
£26,456,782,634 (Transport) 4.2%
£18,567,289,258 (Commerce) 3.0%
£14,886,400,927 (Defence) 2.4%
£9,101,807,289 (International Development) 1.5%
£8,767,456,641 (Veteran Affairs) 1.4%
£3,452,678,245 (Business Safety) 0.5%

£1,567,891,312 (Environment) 0.2%
£1,023,679,999 (Research) 0.2%

Hideous Environment budget IMHO. I also don't know how 3 months worth of veterans get £9bn, but there you go.

Overall though, I like it. Admittedly, I think too much on defence, but I'm always going to think that. I assume one of the infrastructures is Law and Order, is it?

We can cut veterans in half or more down to 4 bil. I also think that we can cut down on health and use the funds to boost research

Foreign Affairs at 0.4% is shameful, especially if we want to meet the 0.7% Foreign Aid target the Alliance set.

We need to stop making overlapping ministries...

If we take 0.7% out of ID that brings it below Veterans Affairs despite there being no veterans.

Am I being dumb, or does Work get a lot of money? What are they using it for? (Again, I could be forgetting something)

And we have 0 veterans. Sure, put some aside. But that number should be in the 6 figures.

Definition of Veteran: A person who has had long experience in a particular field, esp. military service: "a veteran of two world wars".

One year is a long experience?

We will soon have veterans. While we dont need 8 billion, its good to set aside a good amount now. The current proposals for veterans benefits means our budget aint going to be Foreign affairs cheap

I'm cutting Veteran's by £7,000,000. You can also presume that we have veterans who served in the British Armed Forces whilst Aurentina was under British control.

The original budget had 8 billion pounds.... as minister of Veteran affairs, i admit i dont need anywhere that much money. Maybe 1.2 billion will do fine unless we have a war soon (warplans are all ready by the way, accesible to the president)

1.2 Billion?

We need something in the hundreds of thousands, 3 month veterans they're not even veterans by definition.

I also think it is dangerous for the government to be running a deficit and seem to be willing to do so...
