The Gendarme stood over the security, taking the situation in before turning about. "No-one leaves here, security control the building." He added to the MoD Security, Turning aside, he called into his radio, "This is Gendarme Richardson, Arms Teams One and Two get over here now!"

A few moments later, the Gendarmes burst from the door of the building on the opposite side of the street which had been used as a place to observe the pub from. They stopped the traffic and sprinted toward the watering hole.

Senator Kruger's motorcade, lights flashing, pulled into the street outside of the pub. Three black Jaguar XJ Sentinels and one unmarked Range Rover, all driven by special forces close protection drivers, pulled to a stop outside the pub's entrance.

The guard pulled Kruger up and began rushing him out the door, and into his motorcade. Tires screeched as the convoy pulled away.

The operative inside continued to assess Malgrave's situation. "Sir," he said, "Please remain still. If you are able to talk, can you tell me how you are hurt?" He began treating the man for a head injury even before his response, checking breathing and circulation. He pressed a handkerchief against the bleeding and stabilized his head by placing his knees on either side of the man's head and neck.

"Radiation poisoning ?? You can't be serious !!" Stefan stepped away even further from the man on the floor.

"Look at the symptoms. It's quite evident..." The man said as the team of Gendarmes ran up toward the door while Kruger sped away. The Gendarmes quickly set up a small perimeter, while one of the teams entered the pub to stop people from leaving like Kruger had done despite being ordered to stay. ( ;) )

Erich Malgrave squinted as he stumbled down the pavement, the Senator was sweating profusely and was bleeding from the nose, ears and mouth, although the Former Dockworker did not seem to notice the bleeding. Gathering all of his remaining strength the Senator willed himself to reach the safety of the Aurentina Arms, if he reached it then perhaps someone would call the medical services and save his wretched life, as he walked into the entrance he fell into the arms of Senator Bridger, the fresh blood smeared over his clothes now covering the new Minister of Commerce.

Stefan sprinted from the bar to the fallen man, and tried to help Kruger's security with the first aid. He took off his jacket, put it on the man, and began to talk.

"Sir ?? Can you hear me ?? What's happened to you ??"

Erich grunted as he attempted to pull himself up and look at his friend and colleague but he had used all his strength in getting to the pub and instead allowed himself to be gradually placed on the floor of his favourite wateringhole.

"Joseph? Is that you?" Erich said between bloody coughs.

"Yes, it's me." Stefan replied, though he was slightly confused; he didn't remember meeting this man before. "Do you know what's happened to you ??"

The operative stabilizing Malgrave looked up. "It doesn't look like ARS, sir. It's more like a head injury. Radiation doesn't usually cause bleeding like this, but trauma does. If he was blasted with enough rads to bleed, the whole area would've been affected."

Fortunatly for Boris he had left about a minute before this incident had begun and was blissfully unaware as he sat in the back of his official Rolls Royce on the way to his departmental meeting for the Ministry.

WIntle moved forwards, shoving Bridger out of the way and going down on his knee next to the dying Erich. He grasped the Communist's hand and glanced at the Gendarme who shook his head sadly. "Yes... Yes Erich, it's me Kourie..." The British Senator said, wincing inside as he said those words. He'd done it before in the dust of Iraq, trying to give someone closure in their final moments on earth.

Malgrave stated his last words no little more then a whisper as his final breaths left his body.

"Wh... wh... what the fuck?"

He had gone into the pub to celebrate the success in keeping the regimental system. He had then been greeted and consequently confronted by the Minister of the Interior, and had to flee from some Gendarmes that decided now was a good time to arrest him. As he was making his egress, an old friend of Joseph Kourie's had fallen into the mob boss's arms, blood going everywhere. He had always thought his organisation would be the one to end Erich Malgrave's life, if any, but apparently some camel jockeys had gotten to him first. A fleeting feeling of disappointment struck him before military policemen were rushing everywhere, someone started climbing out the back window, a stupid song began blaring out front and an English nobleman pushed him out of the way to comfort the dying anti-mob activist and prominent Aurentine socialist.

It took a couple seconds for Bridger to get his bearings, which was unusual for him and quite disconcerting. Everything was happening fast, but the soon-to-be-deceased senator was probably distracting the Gendarmes enough for him to escape. His guards, much more alert than he was at the moment, were already pushing him toward the bulletproof Nissan Armada a few feet away. As the door opened and he jumped in, engine already running, one man got in the front and another in the back with him. All his soldiers had their weapons drawn, but had not pointed them at anyone in particular, simply maintaining that they were willing to use force to protect their employer. The windows in the vehicle behind him were down, and the barrels of three HK USP Compact Tactical pistols stuck out. His remaining guard turned and guarded the scene as Bridger's vehicle hopped on the sidewalk and began speeding away. The second car stayed behind for a few moments to ensure they made their escape.
I don't care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do.
The question is whether they are in a position to do anything about it. ― William S. Burroughs

A low hi tone came over the station 3 intercom. "Injured persons at the Aurentina Arms Pub, dispatch, Medic 3." the message looped and clicked off as two EMTs rushed to their ambulance and flipped on their red lights and siren and bolted out of the firehouse towards the Pub.

As he moved out of the building, the Gendarme who was told to speak to his guards rapidly began to follow. Military police and another Gendarme were tending to the wounded Malgrave, and too many cooks would spoil the broth. However, the Gendarme was quickly thwarted as the Minister's security pushed past the last moments of the Socialist and out into the street. Following, he called out for them to stop inside the pub, before stepping out into the cold night air.

As the Minister was bundled into a vehicle, the Gendarme half raised his weapon, keeping it pointed down, however, and yelled out for them to stop again. Gesturing at the vehicle, he just managed to convey the information to one of the on-rushing Gendarme security team members who, trusting his comrade's judgement, stopped in the way of the taking-off car, holding up his palm and ordering it to halt.
