I almost always stay within the guidelines, although I am autistic so I may misread a situation or accidentally offend someone (though I've gotten a lot better at that). If I get a ban, I intend to appeal that earlier ban (which ran way longer than it was supposed to, even for its abusive premise), which would probably knock it down to a 1-day ban at worst.
