    Presbyterian ~5%
    Other ~ 5%
Catholic ~20%
Other ~5%
Irreligious ~45%

Urgh. Tab didn't show up. It was meant to be a breakdown of the protestants.

The [list] tag is your friend.

I really like that. Here, with a bit more depth out of the "Other" section:
Protestant ~30%
    Anglican ~20%
    Presbyterian ~5%
    Other ~ 5%
Catholic ~20%
Jewish ~2%
Muslim ~2%
Buddhist ~0.3%

I should probably start figuring out what all the tags do. I've been on NS for nearly three years now.

Probably more Muslim than Jewish. We're quite near North Africa.

Probably more Muslim than Jewish. We're quite near North Africa.

It's also been controlled by christian powers since the fall of Rome. Islam is unlikely to have gained a significant toehold here.

Hmm, this gives me an idea. There is definitely going to be some conflict between religious and non-religious groups.

I honestly I am still not entirely aware of precisely where we are in the Mediterranean in comparison to other nations. At first I was under the impression that we were relatively close to Greece or Turkey, though some of our history makes it sound as though we are between the Italian and Balkan Peninsulas.

We're still unclear on that. I personally support us being in between Malta and Libya.

It seems like geography would be fairly important to establish before culture and history. Unless we are to be in the Western Mediterranean it seems as though we should probably have a higher Orthodox population than we are currently indicating, and would almost certainly have a higher Muslim population than we have now regardless of our location.

That's a good point. I completely forgot about the Orthodox Christians.

But we were not part of the HRE during the protestant reformation, and in fact were close enough to spain and italy to make calvinism or lutheranism gaining a substantial hold unlikely.

Well perhaps not Lutheranism but definitely Calvinism as they were very vocal about spreading their beliefs across the whole of Europe creating little pockets of the Reformed Faith throughout the continent a large Calvinist population would also simulate a large movement of Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish immigrants during colonisation.

It's probably because the only time I ever encounter the religion is while playing Total War games.

I would have though Presbyterianism would have been more popular as Calvinism was well established before the age of empire and in British colonies Presbyterians were more active missionaries as the Anglicans focused on being a colonial church.

That's an interesting point, but how does it warrant more than 3.5%? I'm just curious on that.

Anglican Churches went after the local nobility to convince them to hold allegiance to the crown, Calvinists on the otherhand were more concerned with religious motives and evangalised the lower classes in large and very popular revivals.
