Holy fuck, WHY DID I NOT THINK OF THIS!?! That works perfectly, as I just managed to write up to 1707 before coming down with a severe case of writer's block. For the Old Pretender! For Bonnie Prince Charlie! For Scotland!

It could also serve as the root of the modern CMP. I don't mind my von Tyrannien ancestors being Jacobite leaders, either. ;)

Actually, your ancestor was the first Governor-General of Aurentina and his family, distantly related to the Aurentian royal family, fought for the monarchy during the civil war. Maybe his grandson, so another one of your ancestors, can fight for the Jacobites, crushing your family's power over Aurentina and making your claim secondary to that of the British monarch?

I definitely like that we are located in the Mediterranean. As for the fear over our once being annexed by the axis, I could see the a potential one party puppet state, ruled by what is now the New Imperialist Freedom Party and that party could be a remnant from the era.

This is not to condemn the NIFP as fascists, but their ideals seem like a much more digestible and intelligent plan for a nation not so far removed from Italys fascists. They remind me a lot of Forza Della Italiano

Additioanlly, with regards to religion, I think we should have a strong Turkish population and therefore a strong Muslim community. I feel there should also be more Greek Orthodox Christians and a small but not negligible number of Coptic Christians.

We have quite a few Catholics and not many Anglicans in the Senate, so based on that I'd say we have a higher Catholic population. Also, fewer irreligious, I think.

I also think that we could have a higher Orthodox population, and shave down the Anglican population.

The Senate doesn't necessarily accurately reflect the population. In few nations does it come even close if there's even a hint of diversity.

Most political bodies don't accurately represent the nation's religious makeup. Case in point: American supreme court. Three Jews and six Catholics in a majority protestant nation.

Should we have a national animal? I nominate this guy.

Aurentine Quail (Callipepla aurentinia)
Image

The Aurentine quail is a species unique to Aurentinia, and many think it should be the national bird. This quail has the longest wings of any quail, and can even soar through the air like a hawk. These quails live in social groups of 10 to 15 individuals with no one quail being dominant over another. They mostly eat bugs and the occasional lizard. Aurentine Quails will lay two to three eggs sheltered beneath a shrub or thick grass, with the parents circling overhead.

Um, we used to be an old byzantine colony.

Thats all the exuse we need to have the eagle as our national animal!

Edit: by the way, for the person arguing earliar we were an axis occupied country in ww2, thats pretty unlikely actually. If we are close to malta, chances are the british defended us as hard as malta as if malta fell Rommel could have gotten the fuel he needed to win.
So probably we were bombed heavily, but held. Thats based off me thinking we are near malta and libya.
