Rupert Weinthal is now open for questions.

Senator, what is your opinion on the rise of extremism on both the left and right?

I am still open for questions: viewtopic.php?p=14959489#p14959489

While I don't approve of such ideologies, I accept their right to exist as a tenet of freedom of speech. The USLP and NIFP are two of the Senate's larger parties, but I trust the Aurentine people know that extremism is never good for a country.

So, are you an Anglican priest or Harvey Milk?

OOC: I felt it would be arrogant to have Harvey Milk for my picture, so I had Sean Penn portraying Harvey Milk instead! (ill probly retcon his appearance one last time, the key is to find an obscure yet legit looking politician)

I edited his appearance again

I am a Priest within the Anglican Church, and am an LGBTQ activist. Some people say I resemble Harvey Milk

So Adolfo Suárez González. That must have been interesting, only a few years after the restoration and Franco and his Falange party had splintered with the starting of democratic elections, and thus having to build the country on new principles?

Its an excellent self-defence weapon currently used by members of the Security Branch. I am sure it has been used many times to defend Senators and USLP property from mad men and petty criminals.

The bayonet is a pretty useful tool. We use it in training in preparations for situations in which it could be useful, such as searching a house for insurgents. Of course, it isn't real, as we are yet to see overseas action. Whilst it's certainly outclassed by modern warfare, it could still save the lives of many physically grappled by an enemy and I say that the Falklands War showed that it still had it's usage, when Sergeant Ian McKay lead a bayonet charge on an Argentine position. In the interests of the boys, the bayonet wouldn't be my first choice of weapon, but it doesn't mean that we should get rid of it completely.

No. Instead of supporting a religion that has often engaged in criminal activity and continue to oppress the minds of the working class these people should abandon religion and instead focus their efforts on future and current irreligious organisations.

Daniel Swanson - Independent
Image

Account Name: Deckersia
Occupation: Senator \ Lawyer
Party Position(s):
N/A

Positions in Government:
N/A

Constituency: N/A
Political Ideology: Libertarian Conservatism
Family: Wife: Samantha Swanson, Children: Daniel Swanson Jr., Nathan Swanson
Background: Daniel was born in Aurentine by Aurentine parents. Both of his parents worked modest lives, his father a construction manager and his mother a school teacher. In school Daniel would excel in his grades having almost a near perfect GPA. It was in school that Daniel found his passion for politics, the love of debates, the love of his country and the want for more personal freedoms from the controlling British Empire. After graduating from school he went into university on Aurentine to gain his degree in political science. During university, he found his wife Samantha, who was studying for her degree in law. In the final year of University, Daniel proposed to Samantha in which she accepted the proposal and the two were married soon after graduating from University. The two set up their own law firm together where they handled minor cases, but made a decent income for a comfortable living, comfortable enough for them to have two sons, Daniel Jr. and Nathan, two years apart from each other.

Daniel, tired of being a lawyer decided to pursue his longtime dream of politics, and especially at the chance of knowing Aurentine has just become an independent nation. In the first set of his local Senatorial elections Daniel ran. With his connections from his and Samantha's law firm they gained sufficient funds for advertisements, only accepting it from willing friends and family. Being offered many times by special interest groups to represent their causes in the Senate for a large sum of money, Daniel refused, believing only to represent what the people want. With his charisma and dedication to the campaign, Daniel won his election at twenty eight years old.

Daniel first joined the Libertarian Freedom Party seeing it as the party he agreed with most, but soon resigned from the party to go on to an Independent ticket as to not have any type of pressure in his decisions to vote for what his constituency wanted and what the people of all of Aurentine would want.
Faith: Agnostic
Likes: Capitalism, Free Market, Liberty, Democracy, family.
Dislikes: Gun control, authoritarianism, any limit to personal freedom, socialism.
Any Questions from the Public to be answered?
  • Senator, you've always been against gun control, but if a massacre were to happen here in Aurentina, what would you say then? - Regina Ernst
Well, let's be honest here. The gun wouldn't be the killer of the people. It would be the person firing the gun who would kill the people. That's the problem that people seem to have, is that they don't recognize that it's the people pulling the trigger not the gun itself. I would still be against gun control, but would favor a type of tax against violent video games that children play these days. It's not the guns doing the killing, it's the decay of people themselves.
    • Senator, do you ever vision yourself running for President of Aurentine? - Thomas Wollenberger
That's a pretty hefty question to ask, maybe after a few more terms as Senator I would consider such a position of honor.
      • How do you handle being a husband and father along with being a Senator? - Norman Grant
It's quite a circus. I love my family and they are my priority in life, but being a Senator has the responsibility of a nation and depending on what's going on between the two, my family and being a Senator, I make my decision on which is more important.
