I have also been doing some interesting reading the last few minutes. Do I need to make a senator profile to claim a constituencie and if so are there any other needs apart from the constituencie being unclaimed.

You can claim a constituency without creating a Senator profile, and there is no other requirement other than being a member of the Senate. :)
