Or that it's good to choose someone who we know we can trust and who has been an active member of this party and the senate for far longer than you? You need to build up your presence before you get a position like this, sorry.

Don't give up. Just don't expect to win either. Soviet Canuckistan has waited around and been turned down for a few positions. However, by now we trust him enough and we need someone trusted for such an important role. While you may be just as trustworthy, or more so, we don't know that and therefore will select someone else at the moment. You've got to hang around and get involved, before trying for the top positions. You can't leap to the top, there's a whole stairway to go up first.
