Spiral, I've received a TG from an interested person. That makes 3 members of a future SDMP. We only need two more!

Interesting, I shall become an independent then. staying in the Classical monarchists would be dishonest of me after all. even if this party doesn't come to fruition.

I, Senator Gordano Lysandus of the Red-Green Party, call upon the Red-Greens, the Totally Stoned Party, the Liberal Democrat Party, the Progressive-Conservative Party, the Classical Monarchist Party, sympathetic Independents and ANY OTHER party, outside of the Communists and the Coalition of Freedom and Enterprise, to come together and take steps towards forming a ruling coalition. We need a government. The Senate needs order and direction. We must cooperate, as we have before on the tax bill, to form an effective and functioning government.

We have seen how both the Communists and the CFE have rejected pragmatic compromise and have rejected cooperation for the greater good of our nation. Members of both parties pulled out of backing the tax bill as a childish protest for not getting exactly what they want. We must come together now, when our nation is at its weakest, to do the best thing for our beloved nation and its people.

Put aside your grudges, put aside any old beef that you have. We must have a plan for the future and so here it is, AFRICA, with the intent of forming a coalition that can lead our nation out of the dark ages, out of the anarchy around us, and into an age of new ideas and enlightenment!

We must keep the Communists out of power and since they command a single-party majority, the only way to keep them out of control is to form a coalition.

I would imagine most Red-Greens being against it in practice, along with the more left-wing Liberal Democrats.

The idea of AFRICA is to cut the extremism from both wings, not a specific anti-Communist attack like the CFE (who we also wish to not incorporate).

It's hard to be a moderate here - is no one interested in ending the polarisation of this Senate?

Bringing parties into a coalition won't work, especially with one as broad as you suggest. We're going to have the same ideological debates as we had over the rest of the bills, but behind closed doors: and probably one side leaving to get their own way.

Not if that polarization means eliminating actually representing the respective ideologies of the parties we are in for the sake of solidarity.

Democracy is almost built on polarization. It is inevitable because people have different views on the world, the economy and society.

It's the best we can do for now. The nation is in its governmental infancy and we must create a cooperative, compromising body to facilitate a firm foundation that can function for all - not just to cater to any one wing.

What polarization? We've managed to pass a national tax act, right?

Now, we are debating between Monarchism and Republicanism.

And we will continue to debate, not compromise, until the conclusion that is best for our nation is reached.

It's not eliminating representation - those parties still exist, they'd just exist as opposition to the ruling coalition.

YOU KNOW, I really need to figure out why everyone here hates compromise so much. Why must everything be black or white?
