We should make the system like it was during the period of Augustus.

Meaning that the Senate has power to give presidential powers to the head of state or to revoke them. Leaving him to be, if he isn't good enough, merely a figurehead.

Also, he should have military experience, and he must have won at least a war or two and the respect of those under his command along with good oratory and civilian skills. He should also follow a path in civil life after military campaigns to get there.
