We need the following:

Head of State (I want a monarch now, daddy!)
Head of Government (Lord President of the Senate or something?)
A Speaker (to keep order)

A national name (I suggested Axarea)
State symbols etc (Hippo's on that one)

And so on.

That's up for debate.

I admit, if my nation name goes through, Caesar of Axarea sounds pretty sweet.

FUN FACT: Caesar is pronounced "Kigh-sar", not "See-sar". No soft Cs in Latin.

That's what I meant. XD

But yes, Caesar and Consul work quite nicely. Then if we appoint a military commander, he can be a Dux! :)

I think that the titles Consul and Ceasar are accepted by most.

Let's see.

So we have the Caesar, the Head of State, elected by the Senate to serve until death, abdication or impeachment by 75% of the Senate.
Then the Consul, the Head of Government, elected by the people from the Party Leaders within the Senate.

These are some legal texts I think we can borrow,

from Japan,
The <Monarch> of the Republic is the Head of the State and a symbol of the unity of the country and represents the sovereignty of the country. He shall guarantee the commitment to the Constitution and the preservation of <Nation>’s independence, sovereignty, unity, and the safety of its territories, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.

From Germany,
The <Monarch> shall represent the Republic in its international relations. He shall conclude treaties with foreign states on behalf of the Republic. He shall accredit and receive envoys.

From Russia,
the <Monarch>
a) shall direct the foreign policy of the Republic;
b) shall hold negotiations and sign international treaties of the Republic;
c) shall sign instruments of ratification;
d) shall receive letters of credence and letters of recall of diplomatic representatives accredited to his (her) office.

From Denmark,
Subject to the limitations laid down in this Constitution Act the <Monarch> shall have the supreme authority in all the affairs of the Realm, and he shall exercise such supreme authority through the <Sub-Offices>.

Why not?

There are plenty of highly developed RL countries that are monarchies.

Monarchies are relics of the past. The only reason they still exist in places like Europe is because they have no actual power so no one cares enough to get rid of them.

Nova Roma sets a precedent that we have to kind of live up to.

I want us to try to do something new!

Yes, and the countries that transitioned from a monarchy to a republic simply replaced the monarch with a President who has no real power (see Germany).

The only difference is that a President costs the people more since you have to keep paying for elections every X number of years.

It has to be stereotypical because we aren't anywhere in particular, so I like where you are going with the Rome idea, but that would be a little too trite for my tastes.
