I think there are in west Texas, where in parts of the state, they tell you, that if you break down DO NOT get out of the car unless you have a gun during the day, and never to do it at night, because of the snakes

Here in AR we have copperheads, I think it is. Or is it rattles? I can't remember. All I know is that when I see a snake, I don't go near it.

We see snakes here all the time i the summer. But most aren't venomous. However we do have Prairie Rattlesnake which are really common (I see one at least once a week during the summer), Midget Faded Rattlesnake (which there are a lot, but I rarely see any), massasauga (a type of pit viper) which are also pretty common, and supposedly we have western diamondback rattlesnakes too but i've never seen one.

I ived near a golf course a long time ago, and they had cottonmouth issues, and so when golfers saw the snakes, they called the club house, a member of the staff would show up in a golf cart and shoot the snake with a shotgun

The only snakes I've seen around here are the garden variety, not venomous. I have never seen a rattle or a copperhead, but my husband has before. Especially when he was kid.
