I don't think many people buy horse meat in the US. I was told it is still banned in CA.

Banned horse meat!? Now what is the saying going to be!? "I'm so hungry I feel like I could eat a camel."!?

The strangest meat I've ever had was iguana. Horse is quite normal to me as I've eaten it since I was a little girl in Spain.

Around here, they also eat rattle snake and squirrel.

I understand. I'm sure that if I'm not told the meat I'm eating is rabbit, I wouldn't do a thing. But if I'm told, I just can't eat it.

Just looked it up. The last slaughterhouse in the US closed by court order in 2007. It is completely illegal in California, while the rest of the US it is legal to consume horse meat, however until last year (2012) it was not legal to kill horses with the intentions of selling the meat (slaughtering them). Thats why there were only a few horse slaughterhouses
