Decriminalization /=/ Legalization. There's a huge, huge difference. If you're caught with large amounts of it, or producing it, it's still illegal. Small, personal, amounts do not deem imprisonment though.

Oh well, but treating addiction as an illness instead of a crime might give more incentive for those addicted to get help right?

Alcoholism is considered an illness by some, people still drink, and get so drunk their judgement is so impaired they kill people. (Keep in mind, I support legalization and nationalization of illegal drugs just for the fact that I have several family members who do poke that stuff every now and then, and they're much better than any alcoholic I've ever met.) Who's to say they won't just continue with their old habits, like alcoholics do then?
