for those curious, I -do- have an FT variant that I haven't RPed as in years; the GMO's presence in NS FT is a "first colonial charter" that is, for all intents and purposes, isolated from the actual GMO Home Universe. While the GMO is post-scarcity in the HU, it's far from the most powerful in NS FT, and some of the more established FT nations could steamroll the colonists if they put enough effort into it.
