Pff, both are awesome.
40k has more annoying players though.
Like 40 year old men that start throwing their own miniatures after their Draigowing has been slaughtered.

Well, that's just stupid. If you play any miniature wargame right, you will have invested time and effort in assembling and painting your miniatures. Last time I checked, miniatures don't like it when they're thrown during a temper tantrum. All this talk about miniatures kinda makes me want to pick up painting BattleTech miniatures again. Not that I know anybody in my neighbourhood who plays the game, but it might be fun to make dioramas with loads of 'Mechs, tanks and infantry. Old 40K Epic Imperial Guards work well as cannonfodder infantry in BattleTech as well, since it's the same scale.

Besides, collecting 40k miniatures can help keep the marriage bond alive. Why? It keeps the hubby off that skank-infested pub two blocks away, for example. ;)

Can't you use those IG to play Epic:Armageddon? If you had other players in your area that is. :P

Possibly, but I didn't even know there was an active WH40K Epic game at the moment. Back in the days (the nineties, to be exact) I started playing WH40K Epic, it was my first miniature wargame. It didn't really do it for me, though. BattleTech proved to be more my thing.
