Well ... my knowledge of Spanish history for the 15th through the 18th centuries is a little hazy. I was mostly in England and Northern Europe at the time. Interestingly, Catarina d'Aragón, Ferdinand and Isabella's daughter, had a better claim to the English throne than her father-in-law, King Henry VII, by her descent from John of Gaunt, the son of King Edward III. That Henry was a thoroughly nasty man. I felt a little sorry for Catarina, being locked up in that castle and slowly fading away. Her sister, Juana la Loca, sounds like an interesting person. I'm sorry I wasn't in Hispania more at the time, but what with the various wars going on and all, I didn't travel as freely as I had before, so I rented out my place in Galicia, through intermediaries, and staying the north.

I did meet the Duchess of Parma, Margaret, during her first term as Governor of the Netherlands. Very nice woman, intelligent, savvy, ran the country far better than her brother Felipe II could have and better than his other governors did.

Anyway ...

Juana was such a tragic figure. Many people think she was crazy but I think her only sin was being a strong and intelligent woman in a time that expected women to be meek. Besides, Felipe el hermoso was an asshole.

Prince Henry of England rather admired Felipe, apparently, when el hermoso visited Henry VII's court, but then we're talking about Henry VIII. Felipe lived to be only 28, dying in 1506, whereas Juana outlived him by 49 years. The diagnosis of madness is disputed, according to the Wiki article, since her symptoms could easily come from being confided against her will for the last 35 years of her life. I see also that Gian Carlo Menotti wrote an opera about her in 1979 (you may know his Christmas opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors").
