I thought socipath's generally didn't understand the concept of those emotions often to the point of condemnation of them.

IIRC, Sociopaths can't feel any compassion for other people than themselves (or they can only feel very little compassion). They usually don't understand what negative or positive effects their actions may have on other people, and usually don't care anyways. They're also quite aggressive, due to thinking that they themselves are more important than anyone else - that's why most Sociopaths are also Narcissists, Egoists and/or Egomaniacs.

EDIT: I'm still learning about that stuff, though. I'm no professional Psychologist.
