That's the reasoning I was always told anyway as well...
I'm a deist because I don't think there's any explanation for the origin of the universe that doesn't require us to invoke a timeless and immaterial being.

Now do you believe in an actual being of conscious decision, or do you, (like my one friend) believe that the deity is not a being, but should be recognized as one because of it's power...

I don't have any claims to knowledge about the traits that this deity has outside of it being extremely powerful, timeless, and immaterial.

I see nothing wrong with this belief to be honest, and I can easily see where it comes from...
I just have daddy issues with the idea of a god in any form, but I probably would come to this conclusion to, if I thought about it more...

Also, I just read back through the chain of quotes, and there doesn't need to be an explanation just yet. Scientists are working on one. I remember reading something about matter and antimatter and something.

Not at all. 8 hours is only usually half of the waking day. Normally I'm awake at least 16 hours a day.
