I love Parenthood. Max is awesome. I like how they do a pretty good job on presenting Asperger's.

I like parenthood too, I think the actor who plays Max is very talented. I imagine it would be hard to portray something as complex as asperger's as well as he does. Jim just dislikes most anything made after about 1987

I like parenthood too, I think the actor who plays Max is very talented. I imagine it would be hard to portray something as complex as asperger's as well as he does. Jim just dislikes most anything made after about 1987

He was self diagnosed and I honestly think he was not on the spectrum I think he just used that as an excuse. You aren't offensive or mean for no reason and neither are any of the actors who portray people with the condition...

yeah he was controlling and emotionally abusive to my cousin and everyone else around him and his mom found an aspergers site and told him he had that... if he had seen anyone professionally about it I might have believed it more but I went to the chat room and the other people did not act at all as crazy paraniod controlling abusive as him. they all just tried to live with their challenges and recognize the ways in which they processed things differently than others and work with it... I really think this guy just found a medical thing that he thought he could use to excuse his behavior

That's just utter asshole-ness. I have Asperger's too, and I have NEVER used it as an excuse for anything. If I do something stupid, it's because I did it, not because Asperger's led me to do it. And anyone who says otherwise is lying out of their hairy butt cheeks.

Real Aspies aren't jerks. We don't usually get social interaction easy, but that's a case of mixed signals, not jerk-ery.

Jerk-ery is as much defined by the context, both of the action and the society that witnesses that action. For example, society may consider the person who reports something for excessive noise a jerk but that person considers the person responsible for that noise a jerk.
