What are you trying to do then? I'm planning to get a CS and Neurobiology degree in order to synthesize the two fields and create virtual reality devices.

But that seems so far-fetched as of now, so I'll just be content with a CS degree.

I've found the things I most enjoy learning about and connecting all relate to human interaction. I want to try and learn how to analyze behaviors individually and in aggregate and then write books explaining historical events in that context. Since everything relates to the physical composition of the human brain, I want to learn about the origins of behaviors evolutionarily and the physical realities behind them.

An example of an idea I have is to write a book explaining the origins of colonialism(early modern colonialism,) by comparing it to similar events earlier in history, analyzing the way behaviors and attitudes were created that led to the same mindset, explaining what those behaviors and attitudes are from a physical/chemical point of view, explaining the economic situation of the time and the real and perceived benefits of new world colonization at the time, while also explaining the attitudes among the ruling class of the time that ushered it on.

Wow. That will be quite the task.

Now I wonder how the dutch ruling class, being quite different (merchants vs nobility) would be perceived in this.

The ruling class in Spain were very mercantile as well, and the motivations behind colonization were largely economic, just like the ones behind centralization of states. It will be fun to spend a few years researching and writing once I've learned how to look at everything in the way I need to.
