Technically, if you're taking money from the government, you're taking money away from the people who actually do have jobs and pay taxes.

Implying that makes me an idiot, and implying that I like to do so. Also implying that I actually do get any government assistance (actually I do, but only free lunch at school, and that's on a 45 day basis).

America's community spirit is dwindling just because someone sees a big number for our debt.

Gren, just tell them how the national debt works. The feds can give $30 trillion into welfare and no negative effects will be had.

I'm actually still waiting for a response to what I said. Its been over 20 minutes, and still nothing yet.

Its fairly obvious though. If you were smart you would of chosen better parents. After all only smart people can weasel their way into getting prime quality parents. Its your fault for not being smart enough to be born rich.

Fuck. then I really am a dumbass.

It's really hard to do that seeing as how everyone pays taxes in one form or another. Unless you absolutely have nothing in your bank account and do not purchase anything.

There is a VERY big difference between "likes to live off the government" and "has to live off the government". Sadly, many of the latter are tarred with the same brush as the former.

Why are you stealing Sam's Club samples. Costco clearly has the better selection of samples. Although I think its a bit more expensive to be a member. At any rate you can still sneak in the door.

Nah. You're taking Sam's Club's money that they set out for you to take, but their money was recieved from other people for providing useful services and the like and charging for it.

I've found the things I most enjoy learning about and connecting all relate to human interaction. I want to try and learn how to analyze behaviors individually and in aggregate and then write books explaining historical events in that context. Since everything relates to the physical composition of the human brain, I want to learn about the origins of behaviors evolutionarily and the physical realities behind them.

An example of an idea I have is to write a book explaining the origins of colonialism(early modern colonialism,) by comparing it to similar events earlier in history, analyzing the way behaviors and attitudes were created that led to the same mindset, explaining what those behaviors and attitudes are from a physical/chemical point of view, explaining the economic situation of the time and the real and perceived benefits of new world colonization at the time, while also explaining the attitudes among the ruling class of the time that ushered it on.

Wow. That will be quite the task.

Now I wonder how the dutch ruling class, being quite different (merchants vs nobility) would be perceived in this.

...What, like the government? They're protecting babies and orphans 24/7 who don't pay taxes through the armed forces, firefighters, and etc., for free.

Clearly these babies and orphans are leeches of our society.

Let's say that Sam's Club says "Yeah, we'll provide useful services for you, but you have to pay us money for our services, even if you don't really use them or want our services, and if you don't pay for them, we can send men after you and make you pay eventually."

Then, Sam's Club would be a government.

It'd be fun work.

The ruling class in Spain were very mercantile as well, and the motivations behind colonization were largely economic, just like the ones behind centralization of states. It will be fun to spend a few years researching and writing once I've learned how to look at everything in the way I need to.
