Also try Iced Earth, though they are a bit harder than Blind Guardian. Also try Hammerfall.

And in the Nightwish category, try Epica, Within Temptation and After Forever(all three are dutch btw). Though those do have the whole grunting thing in some songs.

Sad but true
I have a few gay friends that are religious, but have been scared away from God and church by people using that, and basically yelling at them that their sinners.
It's a travesty really, just how it messes with them, too.
It does make me somewhat curious as to how it affects their minds.
